Monroe’s given name is Brittany Weekley. She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1987. She is a multi-genre author. She has published two poems, two books, a song, and two short stories. While she is a multi-genre author, she enjoys writing historical fiction the most. Some of her favorite authors are Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, Charles Dickens, and Edgar Allan Poe.
Monroe earned her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in history and her Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology. She has studied classic literature, robotics, astronomy, history, and languages (French and Norwegian.)
In addition to her work as an author, she writes book reviews for her blog and the Online Book Club. Feel free to check out her book review blog and her website. Don’t forget to follow her on Twitter and Instagram! Below you can read the three interview questions I asked Monroe and her answers, she really does provide some great insight for aspiring writers and I am so thankful she has done so!
What inspired you to start writing?
I started writing when I was young, but I never thought of it as a possible career. I kind of moved through the motions until I reached my mid-twenties. I decided then that I wanted to be a writer, so I wrote my first novel; it took me years to improve. Since then, I have been working hard to be the best writer I can be. Jane Austen was a big inspiration for me. I feel so deeply connected to her and her works. I know a lot of people view Jane Austen as just chick lit, but there’s so much more to her than that.
When can readers expect to see more wonderful books from you?
Next year. I’m in the middle of working on another historical fiction story called Through the Lavender Lilies. My goal is to publish at least one story every year.
Lastly, what would your advice be for aspiring writers?
My advice to aspiring writers is to read and write as much as possible! It’s going to be frustrating, but you can’t give up. If you really want to be a writer, then just do it, and see where the journey takes you. You may make a lot of money, you may not, but go into it because you’re passionate and you have a story to tell. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do it, or that it’s not practical. If it’s your dream, follow it. Anything is possible. You could be the next Stephen King! You never know until you try.
Now, can we please all appreciate Monroe’s lovely personality! Now I would love to tell you readers about what books she currently has on offer. Monroe has written in two anthologies but her she has penned two books herself and those are Atom 2020 and The Secret Life of Thomas Commons. Below I have attached a preview of each book, please feel free to have a read, she really is a talented and kind writer!
