All That Glitters . . .
Jo Flaherty is at work in her French Quarter antique store when an out-of-control cargo ship rams the wharf where her shop is located and her life changes in an instant.
If not for the quick actions of a customer in her store she would have been killed when the building is destroyed. Undercover Customs Agent Greydon Cantrell is investigating antiquities smuggling when his number one priority suddenly becomes staying alive.
The tense time they spend trapped together under tons of rubble waiting for rescue is just the beginning . . .
Firstly can we please appreciate how gorgeous this book cover is?! I love pink and love vintage looking, pretty things, so I just had to say this! Now, this book is a perfect read and a read that I adored so much. This book is enjoyable as well as compelling; I felt compelled very early on thanks to the novels author, Cynthia VanRooy, and her talented, poignant words. Her book is an intense read, and it grabs you from the get-go, I was frantic as I turned the pages because I desperately wanted to know what was going to happen. I was invested in this novel, from the very start and loved every moment of this sweeping romance!
Creole Heat opens with a dramatic scene which is a life or death situation. It brings the two novels protagonists, Jo and Grey into contact and from that moment onwards we have a thrilling, mystery fuelled romance, and I loved every minute of it. I could delve into what happened more in Jo’s and Grey’s meeting but to be honest; it is too poignant to be spoiled, so I think it is to be read yourselves, that is why I would already implore you lovely readers to read this charming book.
The story of Creole Heat is not as simple as one might first think. It may be a romance novel, but it is so much more than that. It blends romance with mystery and suspense, all three of these aspects get rolled into one by the talented author which in turn makes a brilliant, engrossing story that flows beautifully. The two main characters within this book aid in this propelling of the story, if it were not for them, this novel would struggle as they are the novel… this is their story and their romance, and they so wonderfully push the story along and for that I love them, hell, I love them anyway! What I love even more is the authors exceptional writing.
VanRooy writes with elegance and beauty, her words stunned me and inspired me. I loved reading her work, it feels so natural and such a breeze, generally, with romance novels, I get bored after a period, but VanRooy never bored me once, she kept me entertained from beginning to end and for that I admier her. Her beautiful, descriptive, flowing words were stunning, and I believe she would be able to inspire these thoughts in you too if you choose to read this delightful novel.
To summarise my thoughts on the brilliant book that is Creole Heat, I would say if you are looking for a romance with a twist that will sweep you away then please, read this book! It is a dazzling, sparkling gem, the most precious and I am in love with its beauty. This stunning book, of course, gets Five Stars from me!
