Cold Blooded: The New Years Day Massacre is the compelling true story about Ricky Javon Gray and Ray Dandridge’s vicious attack on the Richmond, Virginia community. In 1959 in a small town in Holcomb Kansas, it was the Clutter family whose brutal deaths caused a national uproar, and accounts of the murders were later chronicled in Truman’s Capote’s book, In Cold Blood. It was one of America’s most haunting crimes of that time. Fast forward to 2006 and the appalling murders of Bryan and Kathryn Harvey and their daughters Stella and Ruby. Their untimely deaths shook up the city of Richmond.
Brace yourselves readers for the version that never made the news. Lilly Ann Pauley, the woman who made the 911 call that would later put an end to Ricky Gray and Ray Dandridge’s vicious murder spree, delivers a gripping account of the 2006 slayings of the Harvey family. In this real-life thriller, she will bring readers face to face with pure evil and expose for the first time new and shocking information that law enforcement failed to unveil during the course of their investigation. Her story will shake readers out of their seats! After years of silence, she finally speaks out!
Cold Blooded is a poignant, moving, terrifying true story in which a ghostwriter writes the story of a horrific true crime that occurred on New Years Day. I was unaware of this story (partly because I grew up in England) but now that I know I can’t help but feel sad for the people this crime affected. I thank the writer for writing this story and the survivors for sharing it so please, do not let their emotional time of telling this story to go to waste, it needs to be read, and so I would implore you lovely readers to read it.
Cold Blooded: The New Years Day Massacre is a shocking, compelling true story about two men’s vicious attacks on a small community in Virginia. It is a haunting crime, to haunting to describe here, so I recommend that you read this book to read all about it. What I will say about it though is that it is heart-breakingly sad. As a woman who has a degree in Psychology (specializing in Forensic Psychology), I was shocked to learn about this case and even more shocked about the two murderers. Their psyche is shockingly disturbed, so if you are somebody who adores criminology, then this book will entertain and intrigue you.
The writer of this book is phenomenal, he has written this book in a sensitive, but compelling way and full of much respect. The pacing of the book is wonderfully executed so that you never once get bored. The writer manages to grasp the reader’s attention from the beginning and keep them hooked until the very end. This is a sign of a pure literary talent, and so I admire the writer for there words.
I always measure my likeness of a book on whether I find myself looking at the page number; if I do then I know the book is boring and that I want it to end but the writer managed to keep me engrossed from page to page and so I never once looked at the page number. Again, this is a sign of a talented wordsmith, and so I adore the writer.
To conclude my thoughts on this exceptional book I would say if you are looking for a hard-hitting, poignant read then this incredible book is for you, this engrossing bok gets Five Stars.
