The Sufferer’s Chronicle: The Soul Prison, written by the incredible Derek Hampton, is a thrilling, intriguing fantasy novel that kept me engrossed and entertained from beginning to end. This sensational book is a fantasy read in its darkest form, think Lord of the Rings but maybe even a tad darker. Overall this book is phenomenal, and I am so excited to share it with all of you lovely readers!
The Soul Prison follows the protagonist of the book, Dedricus Hadiel. Hadiel soon discovers something that will change everything for him and his homeland, and this is the premise of this incredible story. I have kept my synopsis vague because this fantasy book is not to be spoiled, it is an exceptional book that should be read without knowing anything about the story so if you readers want to know more about this book then read this fantastic book!
The story of this exciting novel is about a villain who craves power, an anti-hero, and a damsel in distress. All of these three components make this book incredibly addictive. I raced through this book beginning to end because it is a fast-paced, action-packed fantasy read. I adored the fact that this novel features heavily on magic, I love stories like this, especially when the magic moments are described in detail. It allows the reader to imagine every aspect perfectly and that is what makes a compelling read.
The world of The Soul Prison is an intricately, built one in which the author, Derek Hampton, includes a significant amount of vivid detail to create the world perfectly as well as send the readers imagination into overdrive. It is a convincing world because of how detailed it is, not only is the world perfectly described but also the places, the objects and the characters. I adore graphic, descriptive novels because they make the book believable and make you picture it wonderfully in your mind. As well as Hampton being descriptive, he has also managed to interweave many exciting themes such as action, magic, and adventure. Hampton has weaved all of these themes and a few more expertly so that they are all balanced equally.
