Find a husband in thirty days or lose the ranch when I die.

Emma Marshall is stunned by her dying father’s ultimatum. With Twin Oaks to run alone, she delays dealing with it, unaware of the advertisements he placed seeking a groom for her.

One by one, prospects arrive, spurred by the promise of control of a prosperous ranch and a beautiful bride. Angry, embarrassed and heartbroken by her father’s tactics, she fights for her independence.

Tyler Roundtree acts on a request from his best friend and accepts the job of temporary foreman at the Marshall place. Surprised to find his new boss is a beautiful, jean-wearing, gun-toting woman with enough grit to go bear hunting with a switch, he happily accepts the job.

Distracted by persistent suitors and a dangerous man intent on getting control of her ranch, Emma is totally unprepared for the instant attraction to Ty. Thrown together by chance, she can’t help but wonder if he may be the answer to her problem. However, it soon becomes clear she knows everything about running a ranch, and nothing about being a woman.

A world-weary Southern gentleman, a fiery, independent woman—a marriage of convenience was only the beginning.

Mail Order Groom is a sweeping historical romance tale that will sweep you off your feet. It is a beautiful, charming and unique story. It is a novel that is not your typical romance read and I loved this! All too often I come across romance books that are generic, not unique but Mail Order Groom is different, the protagonist is a strong-willed, independent woman and this is such a wonderful change from the usual female protagonists we see in romance reads! It really was the perfect read for me, it swept me away to Texas, in the 1870’s, a time period and place I love I may add! So I adored being whisked away to this time period, it is a timeless read one that I would implore you lovely readers to read!

This timeless tale is set in Texas in 1878; this charming novel follows the protagonist of the novel, Emma. Emma is a young woman who helps her father run the ranch, I say help but really Emma does all the work with the help of a foreman. However, soon her father Rathe decides that she must marry… and in 30 days otherwise they will lose their gorgeous, sprawling Twin Oaks Ranch!

Emma is a smart, young, independent woman and she is brave, she could be described as feminist. Think Jane Eyre but even more amazing! She decides that she does not need to do this because she can find a way to save the ranch however, a handsome drifter called Tyler drifts into town and let’s just say he adds some passion to Emma’s life! This is the premise of the wonderful Mail Order Groom and this is all I am going to say! Of course, much more happens… dangerous things happen but I am keen not to spoil the wonderful plot of the book so you will have to read this novel to find out more! story

The story of Mail Order Groom is sensational and very poignant. It is poignant because it explores themes which are not typically explored in romance reads… i.e. an independent woman! I adore the protagonist of the novel Emma, she is so lovely and a character you can easily root for. I was so invested in this story because I was so invested in Emma! I wanted to know what would happen to her, I wanted to know whether she would marry, I wanted to know who she will end up with if she ever will! This novel makes you ask so many questions and really grips you from the start and this is thanks to the novels exceptional author Dana Wayne.

Dana Wayne is flawless in her writing and a beautifully descriptive writer. The first thing I noticed about Wayne’s writing was that she perfectly eased me into the 18th century time period, sometimes authors can struggle to take me away to a different time period but this was not the case with Wayne. She effortlessly did this without glitches and she made me invested in her story straight away. Her storyline is simply beautiful and very moving as well as entertaining; Her romance is full of believable,, memorable characters as well as emotional sections that will make a woman or even man fall madly in love! It is an exceptional piece of literature from a well-accomplished writer who is now one of my favorite writers of all time!
