The fate of a kingdom rests on the shoulders of three young wizards who couldn’t be more different.
Bakari is a brilliant scholar wizard who’s more at home in a library than a battlefield. Alli is a beautiful young battle wizard whose grace in battle is both enchanting and deadly. Roland is a counselor wizard with a seemingly limitless depth of untapped power — and the ego to match it.
As the magical barrier protecting the kingdom of Alaris from dangerous outsiders begins to fail, and a fomenting rebellion threatens to divide the country in a civil war, the three wizards are thrust into the middle of a power struggle.
When the barrier comes down, the truth comes out. Was everything they were taught about their kingdom based on a lie? Will they all choose to fight on the same side, or end up enemies in the battle over who should rule Alaris?
The Dragon Orb is a compelling, entertaining fantasy novel that kept me intrigued and entertained from beginning to end. I adored this book, I loved everything about it in fact, and as I begin to write my review, I am unable to think of one flaw; it has everything I love in a fantasy novel and more. It has dragon riders, elves, magic, good vs. evil and so many more exciting themes! It is a book that can be read if you are younger or older, it is the perfect companion for if you want to escape so that is why I would implore you lovely readers to read this novel.
The Dragon Orb follows three wizards in a mystical land. These three wizards are Alli, who is a battle wizard, Bakari, a scholar-wizard and lastly Roland who is a counselor wizard. I had no idea there could be so many different wizards! These wizards live beyond a barrier that keeps them safe, but when a rebellion ensues, and the barrier falls, these three wizards must showcase their talents to save the realm; this is the premise of this enjoyable story!
I have to admit; I am a sucker for adventure/fantasy reads, it is a genre I find wildly enjoyable, so that is why I was so pleased to come across The Dragon Orb. This book is full of everything I love in a fantasy novel; it has dragons (which is always something I love to read about!), wizards and so much more magical things/beings. This book has enough of these mystical creatures to keep your imagination electrified, mainly as the astonishing author Mike Shelton, takes the reader on a magical, unforgettable journey through the land of Alaris and past the magical barrier. The magical barrier is something I feel I should mention; this is because a significant mystery surrounds it, it did for me anyway in the first half of this book. My mind whirled with questions, ‘Why is it there?’ ‘Is it there to keep something in or out?’, questions like this will undoubtedly whir through your mind, and this is a sure sign of an excellent author. Authors are meant to pique your intrigue; they are intended to challenge your thoughts, so I adore how Shelton managed to do this.
Shelton is a wonderful, talented author who drew me in from the very beginning thanks to his action and suspense. I love when an author places me in the midst of the drama, so I admire Shelton for doing this. His characters alone are superb; they propel the novel along forward perfectly with their incredible dialogue as well as their abundant energy. Overall the writing in this book is superb and if you are looking for a brilliant story that will captivate you from beginning to end then this perfect novel is for you! This excellent book gets Five Stars from me.
