I am so thrilled to be featuring this author for you book lovers; she is a fantastic crime writer whose books will leave you terrified but also engrossed! Before I get started with my author spotlight, I want to bring your attention to Cristina Kaye’s award-winning thriller series entitled ‘Flesh & Blood Trilogy.’ This series of hers has received critical acclaim for all over, so I implore you lovely readers to check this excellent series out because I know I most definitely will be! All I had to do was read the first chapter of the first book in the trilogy, Like Father Like Daughter and I was sold! So please, check this series out, I will be attaching bok previews of each book of hers so that you lovely readers can have a read! Now, here is a little bit more about the beautiful author Christina Kaye:

Christina Kaye was raised in suburban Central Kentucky in a family full of right-brainers.  With a photographer/artist for a grandfather and an author/illustrator for a mother, she was bound to turn out on the creative side of the spectrum.  She honed her writing skills in school, winning awards for her essays and short stories. Christina tried her hand at about every sport imaginable, which only went to prove that her efforts were better spent in other creative outlets such as art, singing, and writing. But it was writing that really stuck with her and she spent the next several years trying her hand at writing fiction novels, just for the fun of it.

She took a break for a while and focused on putting herself through paralegal school while raising two amazing Irish twin girls.  She quickly learned that being a certified paralegal was the best career choice she could have made. On top of all of the cool cases she has worked on over the years, she was able to write original legal documents autonomously.  When a national magazine for attorneys approached her in 2013 to write a short story for them about the life of a paralegal, she jumped on the chance.  When the article was published and garnered her some amazing feedback, she realized how much she missed writing for leisure.  She sat down and wrote her very first full-length fiction novel that year and hasn’t stopped writing since.

She loves reading (all genres except romance, erotica, and sci-fi), folk music, caramel macchiatos, puppies, thunderstorms, antique jewelry, dragonflies, the color purple (not the movie), and enjoys a large sweet tea from McDonald’s every single day.

Christina Kaye lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her two teenage daughters.

Christina Kaye was always destined to be involved in the arts in some way, and this is thanks to her parents who both have a history in the arts too! I genuinely believe that some people are destined to be writers, and Kaye certainly was! When I spoke to Kaye, I asked her three questions, and here they are with her wonderful answers!

1) What inspired you to start writing?

I’ve always enjoyed creative writing, even since I was a little girl.  But in 2013, I was asked to write a short story for a national magazine for attorneys. When it was published, I received such amazing feedback, I was encouraged to try my hand at a full-length novel. It was awful, but it helped me learn. I spent the next two years writing book after book after book and trying to learn how to “make it” in the publishing industry. In 2015, I secured an agent for Like Father, Like Daughter, but only a few short months in, we realized we had some major creative differences. We parted on amicable terms and I began searching for a new home for my book. I was offered a publishing deal by Limitless Publishing. Two years later, I’ve published four books with them and Like Father, Like Daughter was recently selected as the Suspense Finalist for the 2017 Indie Excellence Awards.

2) When can we readers expect to see more wonderful books from you?
As I mentioned, my next novel, A NECESSARY EVIL, will release on December 19, 2017. I hope to finish PRESUMED DEAD in the coming weeks and then I’ll be seeking an agent and/or publisher for that book. My goal is to release at least one new book each year.

3) Lastly, what would your advice be for aspiring writers?
Read and Research. Of course, everyone will tell you to never give up. That’s a given. But I know writers want a more specific response, so I say read and research. Read as much as you can in your chosen genre. See how best-selling authors in your category write and what is working/selling books. Of course, you have to have your own style, but you do want to follow the rules of writing, especially in your genre, if you want to be successful. Research everything you can about the skill of writing. Find out everything there is to possibly know, whether that be by going online or by attending workshops, conferences, etc. Don’t just assume that because you can tell a good story you can write a best-selling novel. You have to learn and hone your craft. So learn everything you can about the technical aspect of writing novels and all there is to know about how to find agents and get your book published.

Can we please appreciate how wonderful these answers of hers are?! I love when an author is in-depth and offers wonderful advice so I hope that all the wonderful aspiring writer reading this will be able to take something away from her incredible answers!

We are nearing the end of the author spotlight now however before I do I want to let you lovely readers know about Kaye’s upcoming book which is to be released December 19th I believe! It will be published by Limitless Publishing and will tell the story of a kidnapping which will be told from the points of view from the kidnapper, his victim, and the two former best friends fighting to bring her home safely. How exciting and great does this book sound?! I will definitely be buying a copy of this. I have a degree in Psychology but I specialize in Forensive Psychology and so I am always intrigued by a criminals way of thinking so this is incredible!

Thank you so much for reading book lovers! I hope you have enjoyed today’s author spotlight. Christina Kaye truly is a lovely woman and so I would implore all of you to check out her books (previews are attached below) as well as her social media which I will attach now. Thanks again!
