James Ryan’s peaceful existence turns upside down the night he catches young Mick O’Toole trying to rustle his cattle. Running from a dark past of his own, Ryan agrees to take the boy and his ailing widowed mother in.
Widowed Bridget O’Toole’s life finally changes for the better the night the darkly handsome rancher opens his home and his heart to her and Mick. But her past is just a day’s ride away from town, on a collision course with Ryan’s, when her husband returns from the dead, blazing a path of destruction straight toward Bridget, Mick and the new life they’ve made in Emerson, Colorado.
Poignant, breath-taking and endearing are three words that perfectly describe The Rancher’s Heart; The Rancher’s Heart is a sweeping romance tale that will take the reader on a love-filled, compelling journey that will be hard to forget. Romance novels are a lovely companion to a reader, but only if they are entertaining and unique and written eloquently, that is why The Rancher’s Heart is an exceptional novel because it is these three things and much more. It is a novel the reader will want to pick up and get lost in while under a cozy blanket with a cup of tea and or coffee; in other words, it is the perfect reading companion, and so romance readers from all over will be in love with this piece of fiction.
The Rancher’s Heart is the second novel in the Irish Western Series, the first book entitled The Marshal’s Destiny (please click on these words to read my review), can only be described as a phenomenal piece of romantic literature that will sweep its readers away to the secluded mountains of Colorado. It is a beautiful novel that will surely make everyone that little bit happier and so I was thrilled to get my hands on The Rancher’s Heart. The Rancher’s Heart is connected to The Marshal’s Destiny but the relation is only that The Rancher’s Heart is Maggie’s (the protagonist in The Marshal’s Destiny) brothers story. The connection for me is perfect because it is an expansion of an already brilliantly created world. Without spoiling this brilliant novel, The Rancher’s Heart follows James Ryan as his whole life gets thrown up in the air. His life is turn around on its head when a widowed mother, called Bridget O’Toole comes crashing into his life. At first, James is uneasy with the change but soon romance blossoms between these two adorable human beings, who both have a troubled past. The premise of the novel is just this and it makes for a charming read that the reader can easily get lost in.
A story of romance between two people with an upsetting/troubled past are my favorite stories; these are my favorite because they are believable. One attribute I adore about the author of this novel, C.H. Admirand is that she knows how to write believable, endearing characters. The two protagonists of this story are superb, and Admirand has done a fantastic job of creating them, they are convincing and honest. Admirand is a writer who researches the characters of the decade in which the book is set, this is evident in The Rancher’s Heart because her portrayal of a widowed woman with a child is shockingly accurate. Admirand is accurate in expressing that to be a widowed woman in which the decade of the book is set is tough. Even more desperate if you are not married to somebody rich and this, coupled with the fact that you are a single parent… well, then life will oppress you, and so I admire Admirand for correctly describing this in her novel in a delicate, honest way.
Overall, The Rancher’s Heart is an adorable, feel good, exciting western romance that will surely captivate readers with its drama, endearing romance and believable characters. The Rancher’s Heart gets a dazzling Five Stars from me!
