Mother at Seven is the shocking, inspirational true story of a little girl’s tragic childhood, and how she endured and overcame a decade of unspeakable abuse at the hands of her cruel and sadistic family. Set in Sochi, Russia, near the banks of the majestic Black Sea, Mother at Seven tells of those critical moments in a child’s life when the only thing standing between the life and death itself was a pure and innocent belief that better days lie ahead. It teaches that by fighting through hardship and pain, miracles can still happen, and that life can still be amazing as long as hope is never lost.
Mother at Seven is a poignant, moving story that will move its readers to tears. It may be an upsetting book as it chronicles the life of a seven-year-old’s abuse, but it is also an inspiring, profound story about overcoming your past and making a bright future for yourself. As I briefly mentioned, Mother at Seven is an emotionally charged story, and some readers may find it hard to read; however, it is a book that needs to be read. It is an important look at the life a girl lived… a life that many girls are still living so, please, read this book, get lost in a moving, inspirational story and be better informed about what happens in this world.
Mother at Seven is written by the magnificent Veronika Gasparyan and she flawlessly chronicles her life in this touching memoir of hers. Gasparyan takes her readers on the journey of her life from childhood to adulthood. She is brazen in her writing, and she takes her reader in and describer the abuse and torment she suffered at the hands of her cruel family from a very young age. Veronika’s story will move you and make you feel a host of different emotions. However, this book is not oppressively sad as Veronika takes the reader also on her journey of escaping her path and carving a new, happy, filled one for herself. Her journey is a powerfully moving one, and so already I have to thank her for sharing her story with so many readers because, without brave people like Veronika, we would not be making the strides we are today in societies all over the world.
The story of Mother at Seven is a shocking one, and as I mentioned previously, it will make you feel many different emotions. It will make you feel sad, as you are reading a book about a young girls abuse, it will make you angry at the cruel people who tormented her, but it will also inspire you and make you feel hope for a better future and to live your life every day to its fullest. Veronika Gasparyan is a phenomenal writer, and I was shocked by how incredibly well written her story is. Her words will make you turn the pages with haste because they read easily in a flawless manner. Her words will grip you from the first page and will compel you to read until there is nothing left. This is a sign of true literary talent, and so I applaud Veronika for her excellent writing and for taking me on a journey – one that I will not forget for a long time!
To summarise my thoughts on this poignant story, I would say if you are a reader who adores memoirs that have hard-hitting scenes as well as moving, inspiring ones then Mother at Seven most certainly is for you. Mother at Seven is an incredible book, and so I have no choice but to award this book a dazzling Five Stars!
