A youthful and caring man named Henry tells his daughter, Julia, a story about a young girl named Bug. Bug’s life is disrupted when an evil entity known only as The Raven destroys her home and kills her father. Upon learning that she was the intended target of The Raven’s malicious attack, Bug must travel across the land with a talking grizzly bear named Terrence and a magic cape at her side to find a man who can teach her to fight The Raven. As Bug’s story develops, so does Julia’s, and it becomes more and more apparent that their stories are masterfully connected by Julia’s father.

Riverside… you are a magical gem of a book that has stolen my heart and ran off with it and Boomer Lusink… you are an author who is an incredible talent who managed to effortlessly transport me to an exceptional world of magic and love. As I begin to write my review for the enchanting Riverside, all I want to do is pick this book up again, get cozy and read it once more. I always love the feeling of when I reminisce about a great book (especially books as fabulous as this one) because it puts a smile on my face and warms me. Riverside is a beautiful, incredible book that needs to be read by the masses; its enchanting story will take its readers on a phenomenal journey and as the story unravels, the reader will be drawn even more into the story. Riverside indeed is a stunning piece of fantasy fiction, and so already I have to recommend this fantastic book! If you are not already convinced to read this wonderful book please do continue reading to learn more about this charming piece of literature written by the fantastic Boomer Lusink.

Riverside is a charming novel which is narrated by Henry, a father who tells a tale to his daughter Julia. He narrates the story of a young girl named Bug. Bug, Henry describes, is a young girl whose life is cruelly disrupted when The Raven, who can only be described as an evil being who seeks destruction and devastation, destroys her home as well as murder her father. What Bug did not know at first is that The Raven was not after her father but in fact, after herself and that her father died as a result of being in the way of this. When Bug discovers the fact that The Raven wants her, she will go on a quest to find out more about herself and why The Raven wants her. Along the way, Bug will meet a host of characters and beings that will send the readers mind into visual overdrive. One of the characters in particular she meets is Terrence, a talking bear who wants to help Bug and defeat the malicious Raven. You may be thinking at this point in my review that the story Henry is narrating is simply a story but book lovers, it is much more than this. As the plot unravels, the reader will soon discover that this story Henry is narrating is interwoven with Henry’s and Julia’s life and this book lovers, is the premise of this exceptional tale.

Magical realism is a genre I love and one that I am keen to read more off… especially now that Boomer Lusink has restored my faith in this genre! Boomer is an incredible talent whose words read poetically. His beautiful descriptions and visually descriptive writing will astound its readers and suck them into his story and take them hostage. As I started to read this excellent book, I knew that this was a book I had to read quickly. Already from the first page, with its opening sentence which reads ‘Pape, tell me a story’, I was hooked, I knew from this point that the story the reader gets to read is going to be an epic action-packed adventure and that thought of mine did not leave me to disappointment as Riverside was just this… an action-packed adventure filled story!

Riverside is a book that touched me, and I think it is because the premise is about a father telling a story to his daughter. As a child, I loved being read stories, and now that I am a mother, I adore reading stories to my children, it is a beautiful thing, and so I adore Boomer for exploring this in his novel. He lets his readers know that this book is not to be missed… that it is classic and it most surely is! Because I am madly in love with Riverside, I have no choice but to award this book Five Stars and implore all of you lovely readers to read it!

Thank you Aimee for the wonderful review of my book, Riverside. I first tried writing a book when I was 7 years old, and since then I’ve started so many books but never finished them. When I was 17, one day I was sitting at my desk and I just heard the first line of the book, “Papa, tell me a story.” I started with that one line, and amazingly something beautiful came from it. I’m glad that you enjoyed being apart of the magical world that I created for my characters. I would encourage anyone reading this to find my book on Amazon Kindle and read it, and give me as much feedback as you are humanly capable of. I love Riverside, and I hope you will too!
