My name is Titus Kofi and it’s not pronounced like the drink. I took this gig working at The Keystone Hotel. What can I say? It pays the bills.
The owners, a greedy bunch of locals who are all part of one not-so-happy family and just so happen to make up the board of directors, are fairly certain that someone is stealing their precious cash from the hotel.
Their kingpin, Violetta Carbona, one of the strangest looking women you’ll ever meet, wants me to find out who so they can hang the poor bastard from the nearest leafless, half-dead tree. Well, that and she wants to keep the money flowing at The Keystone.
There’s just one problem; there’s no money missing from the cash drawer of The Keystone. There are some missing residents though and it’s not just because they didn’t take their medicine and forgot where they lived. No, someone’s playing some deadly games here; games like bird-caging, riding the gargoyle, and one-way elevator rides. To make matters worse the idiots I used to work with are zooming in on all the wrong people trying to make the pieces fit the puzzle so they can go home with a beer and a smile. That’s why they arrested Mike. That’s where I get more involved than I planned.
Suddenly I find myself caught up in this little ball of fun and I don’t like it one bit. I don’t much care for being Ms. Carbona’s pawn or anyone else’s for that matter. I’m going to get to the bottom of this one way or another, or end up on the bottom of something.
Ethan Holmes is soon becoming one of my favorite authors of all time, I have read three books so far by the talented Ethan Holmes, and I adore his work so actually, scrap my first sentence, Ethan Holmes is one of my favorite authors. What I adore the most about Holmes is his versatility; each book I have read by Holmes has been different and original to the last. Each book is a standout, stellar piece of fiction with each book being incredibility unique. It is hard to come across versatile writers today in the world of literature, but Holmes has perfectly earned this title.
The Keystone is the third book I have read by Ethan Holmes, the first book and the second book I read and reviewed were titles – Earth’s Blood and Water; both of these books were incredible and made me fall in love with Holmes’s brilliant work. The Keystone is a book I was excited to read so when I did start to read it I raced through it! The Keystone can only be described as a book that feels like a classic private investigator, mystery novel that is reminiscent of much-loved classics. Its story follows private investigator, Titus Kofi and he is a sarcastic, hilarious, but incredibly talented man. He has been assigned a job at The Keystone Hotel, and his task is to find out who has been stealing cash from the hotel. Titus starts this job thinking it will be an easy one but what he discovers is shocking; his discovery will take him on an adventure, action-packed job that will have him solving mysteries and crimes left right and center. If you are a reader who adores whodunnit novels, then this book will be brilliant for you… it was for me!
The story of The Keystone is incredibly entertaining and took my breath away thanks to all the twists and turns the reader gets to experience. One of Ethan Holmes many talents is that he knows how to captivate his reader, in other words, he knows what his readers are going to want in a story. I love when an author speaks to his readers and delivers what they want so this is just another reason why I adore The Keystone.
Ethan Holmes as I have mentioned throughout my review is very talented, and his core quality that is so brilliant about him is that he is able to effortlessly switch between authors. When he does so, he gives the reader the impression he has written a ton of books in such genre, but he has not. That is the true talent of Holmes and his craft, so for that, I admire him. As The Keystone is such an entertaining, thrilling story, I have no choice but to award The Keystone a dazzling Five Stars! The Keystone truly is a brilliant, genius story that will have you guessing from beginning to end, so please book lovers, read this wonderful book!
