With 20/20 hindsight, and sons 21 and 17, Kim looks back at her full-time-working-mom life and gives new mothers a peek at what that looks like. Kim was in a minority of friends 20 years ago who worked full time all the way through, but data show young women like her are now more prevalent. With the wisdom that comes from experience and age, Kim offers mothers the two things she would have done differently.

Mothers Fulfilled is a charming, endearing, insightful book that inspired me with its wisdom and captivated me with its sensational words. Kimberley Collins Kalicky is the author of this book and the focus of Mothers Fulfilled as she is the narrator of her own story. Before I discuss the phenomenal words written throughout this book and the journey Kalicky has been on, I have to express that Mothers Fulfilled is inspiring and warmed me to my core. The sensational wisdom and truth throughout this book made me turn the pages with haste, I was quite frankly addicted and loved every minute of this book, and so already I would have to implore all the mothers out there to read Mothers Fulfilled as it will inspire, enlighten and charm you from beginning to end.

Mothers Fulfilled is written by the exceptional Kimberley Collins Kalicky, and in her story, she narrates her life with a focus on her parenting. Kimberley is a mother, and when she raised her two sons (now twenty-one and seventeen), she was a full-time worker who had a demanding career in a tough and sometimes relentless industry. However Kimberley is a woman who did not give up easily and she persevered in her career, despite the incredibly challenging moments and Kimberley brazenly discusses this in Mothers Fulfilled. As well as Kimberley discussing and giving the reader insight into what it is to be a full time working mum while having young children, she also discusses the ups and downs of motherhood and how challenging it can be at times. As a mother of four children, I know all too well that motherhood can be tough and challenging but of course, the rewards and happiness outweigh this and this is what Kimberley describes in her book in an almost poetic, and sensitive manner.

Kimberley Collins Kalicky is a woman I admire and appreciate. Kimberley is a force to be reckoned with because she never once gave up, even when the odds were stacked against her, and this shows us, readers, that she is a strong, independent woman who is not to be messed with! One thing I admire about Kalicky is her honesty, in Mothers Fulfilled Kimberley is incredibly honest about the ups and downs of motherhood, and this was refreshing to read about for many reasons. In a world full of Instagram moms, where motherhood is shown as perfect, it can be disheartening to real mothers but Kalicky shows us readers and all the mothers that motherhood is not a smooth ride, it is actually quite difficult at times and she is open and honest about this.

As well as Kalicky being a phenomenal woman for all that she has achieved; things such as managing a demanding career while raising her two sons, she is also a woman with a talent for writing. As I read Mothers Fulfilled I could not put it down, I felt myself compelled to read from the very start to the end as her words jumped off the page and right into my heart. It was like Kimberley took over me and turned the pages for me! That is how talented her flawless and easy to read fluent writing is.

Mothers Fulfilled truly is a stunning, moving and beautiful book and so I have no choice but to award this wonderful piece of nonfiction a dazzling Five Stars. So please, if you are a mother or know somebody who is or will be one soon, then read this book or buy this book for somebody as it is a refreshing insight into a topic not commonly discussed.

Aimee Ann, thank you for your kind words in your review. It’s wonderful you found my book relatable and a quick read.
The women I’ve met through writing this book and the conversations we’ve had have been wonderful, uplifting, supportive.
Moms supporting moms is a beautiful thing! It was Maria Shriver’s “Shriver Report” published in 2009 that was the catalyst for my writing this book. As a full time working mom throughout my sons’ lives, I was in the minority of women my age (now 55), but if the Shriver Report is accurate, women working full time throughout their child rearing years are becoming the majority and the norm. I felt a responsibility to speak up and show what that looked like in real life – by a real mom. I share things that worked for us and things other moms might want to either incorporate along their journey or try to avoid. Snippets of real events help make the points….and give my book color! My goal was indeed to be honest, kind, supportive and praise women for the important lives they each lead for themselves and their families.
