In Mafia Encounter, when Max is on a family holiday in Sicily, he and Charlie notice the mafia seem to be following them.
Are they related to the mafia boss? Will they have to learn the business? Will their lives ever be the same?
In The Venetian Job, Max desperately wants bad guys and action, so he’ll have a good story to tell when he goes back to school. He and Charlie hang out with their policeman uncle, but there doesn’t seem to be a bad guy in Venice. Then in a Palace on the Grand Canal, Max notices something that doesn’t make sense.
Will Max get bad guys and action after all?
You never know what adventure is around the corner.
The Venetian Job is book three in Sally Gould’s The Max Series and I admit, I am sad that this book is the last one! I am sad not only because I have adored these stories but also because of how much my children will miss Max’s adventures! The whole series has been a thrilling, entertaining ride and my children loved every book and this one, in particular, was there favorite!
The Venetian Job follows the star of this entire series, Max and the rest of his family. Max and his family are off on another adventure and this time they are vacationing in Sicily, Italy, and Venice. Max’s mother has Italian relatives, so it is the perfect vacation for her, but when they all arrive they are shocked by the difference in culture… particular how fast the drivers are on the roads! However, Max is least worried about the drivers but rather the Mafia, yes, Max believes that he is and his older brother Charlie are going to run into the Mafia, and they also think that their mom’s relative is in the Mafia and the ones who ordered them to come to Italy. What happens next is a genuinely thrilling, sometimes hilarious, exciting story that will take your children on a thrilling journey that they will not be able to forget for a long time!
Sally Gould, the author of the Max series, is a talented writer because each book is diverse, original and captivating. Usually, with a book series, the originality in the stories seem to dissipate with each book but not with Gould’s. Instead, Gould’s books only seem to improve with each book, becoming grander with its adventures and happenings and that is, of course, one of the many reasons why she is such a talented author. Once again Gould has proved herself to be a fantastic author with her flawless narration, one quality I love about this book and the previous two is that they are fun! Gould has a talent for writing incredibly fun, entertaining books full of rich humor that will engross young minds for a long time.
As The Venetian Job is a stunning piece of children’s literature that will entertain its readers from page one, I have no choice but to award this engrossing book Five Stars! The Venetian Job indeed is a fantastic book with a rich plot and vibrant characters. The inclusion of the ‘mafia’ and the beautiful cities the reader comes across will make young readers fall in love with this book. In a way, The Venetian Job is educational as it explores the vast cities in an in-depth, descriptive way! So please, do read this book as it is sensational and not to be missed!
