Kira Farseaker led a sheltered, privileged life—until the discovery of a secret that plunged her into an underworld of danger. Now she fights to save an alien species, the Shifters, from government-sanctioned extermination. When she learns some of the Shifters are evolving, she vows to give them sanctuary on a secret planet, a Farseaker legacy. But getting them off-planet and safely to the promised haven will be the most dangerous mission she’s ever attempted. A challenge made more deadly by her attraction to the dark, hungry eyes of a suspected spy.

Officer David Cario’s assignment to a Shifter extermination squadron might be just the break he needs to uncover the secrets behind his sister’s execution. But earning the trust of his commander’s ex-wife, the suspected terrorist Kira Farseaker, proves more complicated than he planned. Crossing into Kira’s world will lead him to truths he isn’t prepared to discover, and the desire between them destroys everything David once believed.

Tangled in a web of treachery, Kira and David struggle between duty and a growing passion that could destroy everything they’ve worked for…or save both their lives.

Promise is a unique, compelling and entertaining science fiction novel that will delight as well as thrill readers for many hours. Never before have I read a book like Promise because Promise is a science fiction novel with a twist; most sci-fi novels have stories that feature trying to save the planet from an Alien invasion however in Promise the female protagonist of the story will try to save the Aliens instead! This is a brilliant twist on a genre that is full of generic Alien invasions, so it is exciting to read a refreshing perspective. The story laced between the pages of this book is one that captivated me from the beginning, to be honest even the description of the book fascinated me, so that is why I have to recommend that all of you lovely readers read Promise because I promise that you will not have read anything like it before.

Promise is an incredible science fiction book that follows the feisty and driven protagonist of the story, Kira Farseaker. Kira has lived a privileged and comfortable life, but soon one day she discovers that there is a terrifying secret and when she does her world will be changed forever. Kira, upon the discovery of an Alien species called the Shifters who are to be exterminated by the Government, decides that she must do something to help and try to save them before it is too late. The reader will follow Kira as she tries to save the Shifters and even place them on another planet for sanctuary but along the way Kira will face many trials and tribulations as somebody is always waiting around the other corner and one of these people is Officer David Cario. David at first was tasked with to help with the Shifter extermination however his duties led him to the ‘terroist’ Kira and when they meet their lives become entangled. Kira will soon enlighten David on the seedy Government happenings involving the Government, and so Kira and David will go on a journey to stop the events while they also grow closer together.

The story of Promise is sensational, and I applaud the exceptional author Isabo Kelly for putting a twist on science fiction. I have never before encountered a book which puts such a twist on an Alien invasion, in the book they treat Aliens as the victims and this was so brilliant to read because I can’t think that it has ever been done before. The fact that the story is so original and unique and incredibly entertaining at the same time shows us that Kelly is a talented wordsmith who knows how to be creative and brazen with her thoughts and think outside of the box. I adore how Kelly took risks with Promise and decided to put a twist on a much-loved genre; this is incredibly hard to do and even harder to pull off, so it is safe for me to write that I adore Kelly’s literature!

Isabo Kelly is a newly discovered author of mine, however, I am kicking myself that I have not found her work sooner! Her sensational literature combined with the unique plot and enigmatic characters make Promise a stellar read that should not be missed. There is much I love about Kelly’s writing, however, I adore her explanatory powers the most, the descriptions of the Alien species and the action-packed events that unfold are breathtaking and will captivate and draw a reader into the story quickly and easily. Not only is Kelly wonderful for describing the events in the book but she is also an exceptional creator of characters because her characterization of Kira, in particular, was terrific. Kira is a character I believe all woman will grow to love thanks to her feisty side which is laced with warmth, she is a good human being in my opinion, and I adored following her on her journey.

As Promise is a brilliant, mesmerizing and thrilling story that will take you on an action-packed science fiction adventure I, of course, have to award this excellent book five stars! So please, if you are looking to get lost in a sci-fi tale that features Aliens then read this book because you will not regret it!
