Demons have come out of hiding to launch their final attack against the Dovenar Kingdom. Agreements have been made with various influential leaders. However, each has their own private agenda to gain power. The fall of the old realm is inevitable.

Thorik Dain plans to resurrect the dragon lord, Rummon, with hopes that the mightiest of all air creatures will help the kingdom. Unaware of the spiritual factions that worship Rummon, Thorik’s attempt is viewed as a great awakening by thousands of dragons while the rest see it as an abomination that must be prevented.

Thorik’s efforts to reduce the kingdom’s conflict only adds a new battle of dragons overhead of the already heated Altered Creature War.

Rise of Rummon is book four in the Altered Creatures series and dare I write this, but I think that Rise of Rummon is my favorite book in the series so far and throughout my review, I will explain why I believe this. From the start of Rise of Rummon I found myself captivated, even more so than with the previous novels, I think this is thanks to the author’s ability to create an air of tension right away at the start of the book. As I started to read the story, I knew that this was going to be epic as well as shocking and so I dived right in. Rise of Rummon can only be described as the perfect blend of action, adventure and fantasy because Anthony G. Wedgeworth brilliantly weaves all of these themes together with his excellent wordsmithery.

What I have loved about the Altered Creatures series from the beginning is the fact that the series and the world created in the book is original and unlike anything I have read before. Although! Many comparisons could be made to world-renowned books and tv shows because Rise of Rummon and the previous four books are of the same high standard. For example, Game of Thrones is an epic, dense and captivating fantasy series and the Altered Creatures could undoubtedly be compared to the series. Granted, the two series are aimed at different ages but what they both have is a well developed and original land full of many different places and both books also feature dragons! Yes book lovers, I do not think I have mentioned this before but in the Altered Creatures series dragons are featured and wow are they epic! That is why I believe Rise of Rummon can easily be compared to Game of Thrones and even the Lord of the Rings series because they all have one thing in common: an entertaining, well-developed story that will make readers lose sleep because of how gripping the story is! Of course, I already recommend the series and Rise of Rummon but if you need more convincing, then please do read the rest of my review.

Rise of Rummon is the fourth book in the series, so I am going to have to be very careful once again about spoilers! However, I do believe that I need to discuss small spoilers so if you would love like to not know then skip to the next chapter book lovers. In Rise of Rummon the reader is once again reunited with the protagonist of the novel, Thorik Dain and in book four Thorik has become the leader he has always been destined to be. The reader has followed him on his journey over the past three books, and these journeys have been full of many pitfuls, some terribly sad ones, but all of this has shaped Thorik and made him the leader he is today. In book four the Demons have finally launched their attack on the Kingdom of Dovenar, and it is apparent to the readers early on that this is not going to be an easy battle.  Sure, agreements between leaders have been made, but most leaders are selfish, and so everybody is out for themselves which does not help the defeat of the terrifying Demons. Thorik, however, has a plan and this plan is to resurrect a dragon lord called Rummon in the hope that the dragon can win the war and put an end to the fighting. Will Thorik succeed and will the Kingdom of Dovenar be saved? Read Rise of Rummon to find out book lovers!

For those of you that did not just read the second paragraph but want to know what the book is about in spoiler-free terms then picture an epic battle between good and evil that follows a leader who has been on a hard journey and picture a dragon lord and you have Rise of Rummon!

The story of Rise of Rummon is excellent, and once again the author Anthony G. Wedgeworth has managed to breathe new life into his story and into his hero Thorik by developing and expanding on his character. I confess that I am obsessed with Thorik and his journey and who can blame me, I have followed him on his journey over the course of four books now! Thorik is an excellent character because he is relatable as well as likable. The encounters and situations he has faced throughout the book could easily resonate with readers despite the events being fantasy based because although the Altered Creatures series is fantasy, some of its themes easily translate to the real world and that is why the series is such a gem of a read.

In Rise of Rummon the reader is going to be guaranteed a lot of fighting and a lot of epic battles! Wedgeworth really went all out for the fourth book and the war, and wow he did not disappoint! However, Wedgeworth also knows that too much fighting can be too much for a reader all the time so that is why he has injected dashes of romance throughout the book which will perfectly delight readers and keep them turning the pages.

Anthony G. Wedgeworth has managed to create a fantasy world in the most flawless of ways, to create one is difficult, but Wedgeworth makes it seem like an easy job. With his world and with each book in the series he manages to breathe new life into the smallest details, into the characters and the events and this keeps the books and the series as a whole very entertaining and enjoyable.

Overall Rise of Rummon is another stellar book from Wedgeworth, and so I would be mad not to award the book five stars! So please book lovers, go have a read and be sure to keep an eye out for my review of book five which will be live within the next coming weeks!

Wow! That was an amazing review. You have such a wonderful gift of revealing just enough to let your readers understand what the book about without spoiling it for them. I also liked that you gave away some spoilers with a warning up front. Very Cool. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to read my series and write reviews about each of the novels. It’s greatly appreciated and I hope your readers enjoy your reviews as much as I do.

“Rise of Rummon” was one of my favorite novels to write. It had a perfect balance of energy, drama, battle, and character development. It just all came together so well that it was a pleasure to roll out to the fans of the series. Once again, I revealed several Easter Eggs from other books as well as planted new hidden messages for future books to reveal. I strive to provide an exciting adventure that keeps fans reading.

In addition, I spend the time needed to write in in a style that makes the second read even better than the first one. I hope this is the case for you. If you find the time to read the series again, it will blow your mind at all the subtle things you missed that add so much more to the overall series. Here’s an example, did you catch that Thorik’s grandmother was talking to the Dragon Lord, Rummon, in the book 1? 🙂
