A face without a name is intangible, as is a name without a face…My freedom was taken away from me when my family was discovered by a man–a slave trader–with a personal vendetta. After watching my family tortured before my eyes, me and my baby sister were sold into slavery in Virginia where we learned first-hand everything our parents worked so hard to conceal us from.
I didn’t want my baby sister to breathe the sins of this world, so I did what I thought was best. I took her life.

Rooks of the Raven is an emotionally charged novel that will take its readers on an emotional journey that will shock, astound and entertain readers from beginning to end. From the get-go of Rooks of the Raven, the reader will be intrigued by the cast of characters and the dramatic plot that unfolds at a fast pace. The story is one that will captivate readers from start to finish thanks to the thought out and flawlessly written literature. If you are a reader who is looking to get lost in a unique, timeless and poignant story, then Rooks of the Raven is the novel for you! However if you need more convincing then continue to read to learn more about this novel.

Rooks of the Raven is a poignant novel that introduces the reader to the protagonist of the story, and the reader will follow the protagonist of the novel before, during and after the Civil War and before and after the protagonist was a slave. The journey the reader is taken on is a hard-hitting one because the reader will witness when the protagonist is taken by a slave trader and the protagonist being sold into slavery. The journey that unravels is an emotionally charged one and one I can’t spoil but if you read this novel be prepared for a hard-hitting story that is moving as well as emotional.

The story of Rooks of the Raven is one that will take readers on an incredible journey through history. As a woman who loves history, I was in my element with this book, sure it is historical fiction however it is still entertaining and to follow a young person on their journey, despite it being a hard-hitting journey was compelling. What I love about Rooks of the Raven is that the story is ever-expanding and the excellent author, Franklin Neal has a wealth of knowledge on topics, events, and places that perfectly compliment the expansive story which in turn keeps the reader reading!

I have read in some reviews that the novel is too depressing and too hard hitting. Sure, the story is hard-hitting and emotional because it deals with the topic of slavery, abuse, and murder however what readers need to know that although the book is sad, events such as the ones explored throughout Rooks of the Raven did happen. So yes, it is sad, but it was also a reality for many people all over the world, and so the story should be read and respected instead of neglected because the events like the ones explored did happen, and so the events need to be remembered and read to honor the victims.

Franklin Neal is an incredible author who has managed to transfix and entertain me with his beautiful literature. I am impressed by the amount of depth Neal has managed to lace throughout his book, and Neal ensures throughout his book that his readers are entertained and thrilled from beginning to end. Franklin Neal does this by weaving twists and turns throughout his book which yes, are incredibly shocking! As well as this Neal flawlessly weaves brilliant characterization and development of his characters that will keep the readers turning the pages from beginning to end.

Overall Rooks of the Raven is a sensational, unique and dramatic novel that will take readers on an expansive journey that is unforgettable and unpredictable and so Rooks of the Raven, of course, has to get five stars from me! I want to thank Aimee Ann for this uplifting post. She has single handily inspire me to continue doing my best. I want everyone to feel as she did while reading Rooks of the Raven. Aimee states “Rooks of the Raven is an emotionally charged novel that will take its readers on an emotional journey that will shock, astound and entertain readers from beginning to end. Rooks of the Raven derived from my love of chess and my love to write emotional stories. I am a hard believer in tears tell the best story. Action speaks louder than words, so to hear readers come and tell me they cried all night, you have already spoken. Most readers don’t even need to tell me they like they story. What I look forward to is, how did it make you feel inside. “I couldn’t stop crying or why would you do that?” Those are the comments that just makes me feel like I am on the right path. Happy reading guys, you can find Rooks of the Raven on amazon, Lastly, keep an eye out for my short story coming soon Six Years Black!
